DD on and off belly pains for days

DD (15) has been having pain in her belly, mostly at the bottom but also the sides and top, so basically all over her abdomen which doesn't help me figure out what it could be. Been going on for at least a week now, maybe 1.5 weeks, and will hurt for a while then go away then come back in a few hours. Paracetamol not helping. Its definitely not period pains as they started after her period finished. No fever or other symptoms.

We're on holiday in the UK so can't just take her to the doctor like we would back home and its not like its A&E worthy, so just trying to think what it could possibly be. Its not very severe pain, she looks uncomfortable but is able to walk etc. She is very tired but she's anaemic so the tiredness might be due to that rather than the pain (or both)

Keep appendicitis in mind just in case..

So dramatic to say the water tastes bad and slimy. It’s most likely just hard water. You can get filter straws.

Hardly dramatic. it's what the poster and her dd is experiencing.

When I go to scandinavia I notice a difference in taste of both water and milk.
Milk also has a different texture. Its not my being dramatic its having taste buds

I don't know, at home we use lactose free milk because my partner is intolerant and most ice creams etc. in our country are lactose free so wouldn't know if she was intolerant. She has been having ice creams and they're probably not lactose free here

You can buy lactase tablets in chain shops like Holland and Barrett. Lactase neutralises the lactose in dairy foods.

The hard water is worse but even the softer water in the south West which we were in the last few days tastes bad (especially when you can taste the chlorine) compared to the water where we're from. You're used to it but we're used to the best water in the world, anything else does taste bad in comparison but DD is particularly sensitive to it (has food issues too so probably some sensory issue).

Its not more on the right side so unlikely, keeping an eye if it moves though.

Ice CREAM isn’t lactose free in the UK no.

Lactose intolerance is so common in my country that ice cream is often made with lactose free cream. Probably easier to find lactose free dairy than normal! Which is great of course but does make it hard to know if someone is lactose intolerant.

That's interesting. I wonder why it is so common there.

Some genetic abnormality I suppose. Though I've sometimes suspected its due to the high levels of milk consumption, even grown adults drink milk at meals, and its just too much for the body to handle Grin

But I mentioned the possibility to DD and she pointed out that she eats a lot of cheese back home with zero issues so perhaps not.

I got her buscopan yesterday and that has helped a lot.

Glad she is feeling somewhat better
