Anyone else experiencing usual hay fever symptoms despite low pollen counts?

I always get grass pollen hay fever around this time of year.

Started again last week but all the pollen counts are low (am in Yorkshire), car pollen filter is saying low for grass etc.

I have all the standard symptoms, feel like I'm going mad! Does anyone else have their usual hay fever this year?

My husband is, yes. In fact I’d say he’s had a few days recently where his symptoms have been worse than other years, despite the low count. It’s odd.

Low overall pollen count doesn't mean there's not a lot of some type around. It just depends which pollens you are actually allergic to.

It’s horrendous. But I think the strong winds and rain are causing it all to be released.

Yes but if you look at the pollen type ones they have said grass is low the last few days. I also have a filter in my car that gives reading by pollen type and grass has been low or medium.

Just feels strange as my symptoms are exactly the same as usual! Worried I've got another random allergy I guess and wondered if it was just me.

There's still plenty of tree pollen around OP, and I found as I got older I became more reactive to privet flowers, which is everywhere due to it being the favourite for garden hedging. Previous years people would trim it back in spring so no flowers but now we are more aware of nesting birds etc so trimming gets delayed and it flowers. I never realised how much the bees love it either, the hedges actually hum!. Sorry for waffling but could it be something like that?

Maybe and thanks for the thoughts...

Reason I've found it odd this year is that my symptoms always track the grass pollen season (ie June), are worse after walking in fields etc. Exactly the same this year but all local grass pollen stuff says low.
