Is there a version of 'mumsnet' in the USA?

We might be moving to the US early next year and so we're currently looking into different schools and areas to live etc. I've always found Mumsnet really helpful in this respect with personalised recommendations, so wondered if there is an equivalent forum that's more USA based?

Do people use Reddit more there? I've tried looking for threads on schools etc but can't see much on it.

I've also tried a few Facebook groups, but again a lot of them I need to actually be based in the location to join the group!

Is urbanbaby still a thing? That was the goto forum for New York mums back in the day.

I think a lot of people use Reddit and probably local Facebook groups and things like TikTok.

That would be handy, but I haven't found anything yet. We're moving to Texas in a few months and I've joined a Facebook group for the area but that's it.

It depends on which State and city, because it’s so huge! I’ve had most luck with local Facebook groups, but you might want to join your due date group from when your kids were born for general info and hopefully some connections near you! Also Peanut is like Tinder for mum friends so you can find people near you

Facebook has city/county focused groups you can join that can be helpful. And I've used this site before, it's been a while since I've been to it but there are forums and options to search info by city, etc.

Maybe you could set a long term thread going on here? Call it Mums in the US or something and when it fills create a new one called thread 2 and so on.

You can still post on here as normal of course, but I’d recommend always putting that you are in the US in the OP so that you don’t get a load of UK recommendations.

The "Mothering" forums are still going but not as active as they used to be.

Also a bit out there for some things. The unassisted birth subforum is an eye opener!

https://www.greatschools.org/ for school ratings.

And there is a Living Abroad forum here on MN where I’ll bet you can get good answers from people living here. I’m in Maine so not much help to you re Texas but I know plenty about parenting and living in the US generally.
