are there any risks to my hair or health with a keratin treatment?

Am considering a keratin treatment before a holiday to a very humid country. Is there anything I should think about/ask before proceeding? My hair has a colour conditioner on it and whilst it is straight it has a few greys in it that have some frizz. Normally i would straighten it. Thank you.

Studies* show that it can be associated with cancer. But I think that's long term use. A one off probably isn't an issue. And you can opt for formaldehyde free treatments that probably lower the risk.

Thank you. Are there not laws on limits in UK and the issues more relate to USA? Dont want to offend my hairdresser if by asking if it suggests she is not following legislation

I have no idea about health risks but I get a keratin treatment every 9 months. It’s been an absolute game changer for my fine frizzy hair. Hasn’t affected my hair quality at all. It’s a fairly long expensive process however and unless your hair is very frizzy I’m not sure I would bother.

I am happy with my hair in the UK as I straighten it and then it looks great but I am going to a very humid country with lots of rain whilst we are out during the day so it will look awful

I keep looking at these but everything online suggests it’s not good long term for hair, so I’ve not done it. Also going to a hot humid holiday later this year so not sure if I’ll take the plunge anyway.

Is it not basically a perm? But straight not a wave.
