Experiences and recommendations for laser eye surgery including SMILE and LASIK

Hi I’m looking for advice and stories of real life experiences of eye laser surgery, I’ve explored a little bit myself and it seems that I would be suitable for smile or LASIK treatment. I have issues with short. long distance and intermediate and looking out there it’s a mindfield who to go with and obviously adverts, deals and money off etcetera. I would just love to hear from people who’ve had it done and recommendations where they went and even some people that wish they’d never done it, so I’m hoping that people can find the time to answer to this thread and I would love to hear from you all thanks

I had it done (can’t remember if lasik or lasek) when I was 25 and was back in glasses full time 4 years later. I fully believed them when they said I’d only need reading glasses in the future and all the other things they say. I struggled for years with really dry eyes, night vision problems with driving (halos around lights) and have a lot more floaters now than i used to have. My relative had it done at roughly the same time and they had a similar experience - back in glasses quite a short time after. My optician at the time said it’s quite common for it to only last a few years

That’s annoying, I was looking at this as my eyes have become so dry in perimenopause, I’ve been struggling with contact lenses. I find glasses so impractical for things like when I’m running, or for sunglasses in summer.

Maybe I need to rethink.

Dry eye disease is a known common side effect of all forms of refractive surgery, I’d would be very cautious of having it if that’s your chief complaint. If anything, lens replacement would be a more suitable option.

I had Lasik done 5 years ago at Focus Clinic in London. It was expensive but worth every penny. They have a 10-year guarantee and my vision has been perfect ever since. Really recommend.

Oh no sorry to hear this. How long ago did you have it done? Thanks for replying
