Where can I weigh myself?

Currently trying to lose weight with mounjaro but honestly have no idea how i'm doing since our scales say something different every time! Unless I can line them up exactly in the same place in the kitchen every week (impossible) then its not a very good tool.

Nowhere too public, but I remember the days when Boots used to have scales in store. Dh does his at the gym (i'm not a member) and i'm looking for something similar.

Our GP surgery has one in the waiting room. So, a bit public, but generally people are all a bit preoccupied with their own issues.
Our pharmacist also has scales in the private consulting room

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 06/06/2026 20:49

I think boots still have scales, our local leisure centre does too. Would it be worth investing in new scales instead?

Nickyknackered · 06/06/2026 20:51

Oh i'll give the doctors a call and see if they have any. Pharmacy is a good shout too bit don't want to have to make an appointment every week.

I don't think its a scales issue but a wonky floor issue.

Do you have wonky floors all over your house then? Just weigh in another room.

SkippitySkoppity · 06/06/2026 21:06

When's the last time you changed the battery in your scales? Sometimes a dying battery can give different readings. Change the battery and weigh yourself on the flattest floor surface in the home.

I mean, you're acting like I haven't thought of this. You can't weigh on carpet (also not level/accurate) and the kitchen isnt wonky to the naked eye, but does change the scales reading if I move them around the room.

Edited..

You must surely have a space in your house that’s not wonky?

Larger Boots stores still have the scales usually close to the pharmacy /medicine counter. And as others have said some GP surgeries in the waiting room.

However if you cannot find a single place in your home that allows your current scales to measure consistently then I would suggest investing in new scales might be cheaper than regular boots machine visits over time and a lot less hassle.

You really will want your own working scales when monitoring your Mounjaro progress.

Firesidechatter · 06/06/2026 21:49

Just mark an area in the kitchen, a line somewhere and weigh in that place every time. Then you know the losses are accurate

windyinthewillows76 · 06/06/2026 21:51

Just use the same spot eveyweek. I weigh daily in the hallway- 1st tile in front of the porch door approximately once 5cm from the edge of the tile. Get on once to calibrate then take the second reading

LewKirtonHeavenInTheAfternoonNSOul · 06/06/2026 21:56

Boots digital scales but the bloody voice
Measuring your weight and height on repeat
Is hardly discreet as voice is loud

ShakyBake · 06/06/2026 22:09

Post office or a butchers near you?

caringcarer · 06/06/2026 22:15

Chemist.

HarrietofFire · 06/06/2026 22:16

The Weigh House, Grainger Market, Newcastle upon Tyne. They write your weight in stones, pounds and ounces on a little ticket and give it to you and there’s pegs to hang your coat and bag up.

Stones, pounds and ounces is ridiculous. It's not 1985 any more, weigh yourself in kgs.

EBearhug · 07/06/2026 01:02

Can you get a square bit of wood (from a DiY sore) and put that on the floor, then the scales on that, to even out the unevenness?

Bjorkdidit · 07/06/2026 04:35

Was just going to suggest that @EBearhug

Our scales live under the bed on a 50 cm square piece of chipboard (spare shelf from an IKEA wardrobe) and they seem consistent to me, even though our bedroom carpet is very thick.

And I have a professional interest in measurement uncertainties so would know if they weren't and I could write pages about why the number on the scales varies for reasons other than the amount of fat in a person's body has changed.

Then don’t move them around the room. Pick one place and leave them there. It’s direction of travel in the scales you’re looking for isn’t it?
You should recalibrate them every time you use them as well in case they’ve been knocked in between.

Thanks for all the additional advice about my scales and house, i'm not prepared to keep moving around my house looking for a spot! Literally 30 cm to the side can produce a 6kg difference in weight. And no i dont have space to just leave a set of scales in the middle if my kitchen floor.

Many thanks for all the helpful location replies, i will check them out.

Then place them at the same spot each time.

Come on, this is not rocket science.

How does it affect you what am choosing to do? I am looking for a more precise weigh than I am currently able to achieve at home. Thanks for your reply.

A bit random, but Pets & Friends pet shops have a flat weighing scale for dogs. It weighs in kilos and is very discreet. Nobody would know you were using it unless they were right beside you.
