Mishandled restructure - grounds for complaint?

I’ve changed lots of details but I hope it makes sense.

My organisation has I undergone a restructure due to reduced income and increase overhead

We are team of 100 staff in departments of been 10 and 4. When I joined I was part of a large team but moved smaller team. Basically about 15 staff needed to be shed. We often work in other teams for part of our hours.

When the redundancy pools were announced i was in my original team that had to shed 3 staff. I and two colleague were quickly found new roles at other sites. The rest of the staff were able to stay. We didn’t want to leave.

what has happened now is that as 10 staff have left they have said is enough and everyone else can stay as income has increased. The people who weren’t found new post were shuffled about, numbers were massaged and favours found for people. I interviewed for a job in my old team and didn’t get it because “I didn’t have enough experience” and “she was closer to the team leader and was able to say it like it is”. I have a wider role that crosses all teams and everyone was shocked that I was being made to leave.

I know that I could have risked redundancy and gone to a pool matrix and been successful or not. My site directors said I would be fine and the trust them but couldn’t put in writing.

I feel really angry with the restructure team that come from head office as literally their job was to get rid and as soon as they found us new jobs we were shuffled off.

I feel really angry with our site director who just says it’s not policy or it’s not my decision to every question.

I’m gutted. I love my job. I love my friends and I am able to make a huge difference in the work I do to people.

can I complain and if so how.

So you were in a pool for redundancy, applied for a new role within your organisation and were successful in this. You’re now in your new role and because of various other changes such as employees resigning it turns out you wouldn’t have been made redundant even if you had stayed in your original role?

And now you want your original role back?

Sorry, your post is a little hard to follow so just clarifying. If I have understood correctly then they presumably could not have foreseen the circumstances, and were correct to offer redeployment opportunities as an alternative to redundancies. Because circumstances have changed you are not entitled to your original role (that you left voluntarily) back.

Is the role you applied for in your old team the same as your role in that team, or a different role entirely?
