Do GP's charge for this?

Thinking of asking my child's GP to write a letter to support their school application (for exceptional circumstances). Just wondering what to expect. Do they normally charge for this? Happy to pay, but wondering what the norm is.

Yes they would charge to write a letter. That’s if they even agree to write one in the first place

It’s not nhs work so yes a charge (unless your dc is severely disabled etc in which case you’d probably already have consultant letters)

Yes. My GP charged £35 for letters that were outside of NHS scope.

Yes, £35ish for something simple or potentially more if it's more involved.

Yes they would most definitely charge for this as it is private work not part of their NHS which they deliver

Also they would first need to agree to this and would depend on what the exceptional circs are e.g are they related to a chronic medical condition

You wouldn’t be able to just tell them what detail you want in a letter, it would depend if they could write it based on the evidence within your child’s medical records
