Sweets/throat pastilles with noiseless packaging?

No idea where to post this, so went generic.

Does anyone know of a brand of throat pastilles/lozenges or even just ‘sucky sweets’ that don’t have loud packaging?

I have a relative that has a permanent tickly cough. They can go for ages without needing to cough but then suddenly they need to. They love theatre and ballet and would love to go to more performances but don’t want to be disruptive to people around them.

They find sucking on a sweet like a werthers really helps when the urge to cough is building, but werthers have the noisiest packaging around when you’re in a theatre.

So can any wonderful person please help? She’s finding it quite depressing that she can’t go to performances without feeling very stressed. Is there a brand I haven’t heard of with noiseless packaging? Or maybe someone has a trick for transporting sticky sweets temporarily so she can pack her werthers?!

You could just unwrap and decant into a plastic bag, or fruit pastilles aren’t particularly rustly

Yeah i agree, unwrap, stick into an ikea seal bag, or a plastic tub, and leave in the fridge until you need to go out - you dont want them sticking together in the heat 🤢

There’s quite a lot of old fashioned throat sweets (or just sweets) that come in a tin

What about wrapping a few in normal cling film and just popping them in her pocket? I also take a small bottle of water into the theatre and have this far never had any issues with this, but I do generally go to regional theatres. I have cough presenting asthma which can get worse if I start coughing so I am always trying to stop them before it starts.

Fishermans Friend are a softish paper bag which is pretty quiet. Lots of new flavours now too.

Tell her to look at travel sweets e.g. Cavendish and Hardy. They come in a tin, separated with icing sugar, so no wrappers. My grandmother always had them.

Thank you all for these suggestions - I’ll buy her a few options and maybe we can experiment with bagging/wrapping up her werthers. Hopefully we can solve it. I’d forgotten about tinned sweets.

Ricola sweets.
I use these for my tickly cough. They come in a little cardboard box, nice size for pocket or handbag.
Various flavours, easily found in supermarkets.

Olbas. Ricola also a good shout. Regarding Fisherman’s friends, they are like Marmite in that most people love them or hate them. (Utterly disgusting IMHO)

Agree - ricola are perfect for this.

I remember 30+ years ago the RNCM had a stand with ricola sweets as a free promotion during Halle concerts, specifically because they were “no rattle” packaged sweets.

Edited

The new FF flavours are really nice - I agree the original flavour is inedible
