What a Mumsnet response.

In fleeting interactions; men.

But I don’t have male proper friends, and overall I think men are not as nice as women.

But they are funnier.

I disagree, the funniest people I know are all female.

I can get on well with either sex but my close friends are mainly all women (one gay man). When I was in my teen & 20s a lot of my close friends were male but that’s changed as I’ve got older (a conscious choice). The men I’ve fallen in love with have usually started out as friends first.

I get on well with both, always have, but most of my good friends are women and I think that's mainly because it's complicated to have close male friends. I do have lots of male friends though - typically the partners of female friends, but I have one old friend who was a work colleague and he's male. We've been friends for 30 years.

Women, and gay men.

Everyday life - women, but I generally prefer male work colleagues and managers.

Although I do understand why female managers sometimes can’t afford to be as nice as males, but that’s a whole other thread
