Should I ask for repair costs after a minor car park scrape?

Hi guys,
i don’t know if I am in the right topic but I wanted to ask for some advice.

in my work car park ( which we pay) my car has been hit two days in a row.
yesterdays one left a note apologising and left her number. when I walked towards my car my heart sunk as I saw the mirror folded backwards. There is some cosmetic scratch. Managed to unfold it back straight, can’t see any obvious cracks on the mirror.

what do I say to her? Do I charge her for the minor scratches?
I’ve never been in this position before so I don’t know what to do. Thankfully my car is not brand new ( but I also don’t want it to be mashed up obviously and care for it).

Yes ask. If only so the driver takes more care in future.

What’s a reasonable amount? Would I need to go to the repair shop to get a quote? Would it be bizarre to ask
if my car is already 15 years old?

If you are going to ask
someone for money for a repair, it’s very reasonable for that person to ask for an official quote for it.

If it was hit two days in a row, do you know who did which damage?

I wouldn’t bother trying to get a repair with an older car like that unless there was real damage to something more than paint. But I’d also rethink how I was parking if I was being hit repeatedly. At my last job they had a reverse parking rule which really helped reduce the number of prangs to almost zero.

Yes of course, if you don’t want to go through insurance get a quote and send it to her. Not sure why you wouldn’t.

I would always advise going through insurance but if it’s just a mirror scrape then the increased premiums are likely to cancel out any repair costs.
