Early -mid 90s. Im 17 and having the blast of my life. Zero responsibility, not long discovered blokes ... have an older boyfriend who takes me to pubs. I get in over 21s. Im slim, young and having the time of my life. Ff to now. I have much much more money then then .. but life is full of responsibility, adulting and doing the right thing. ...

No you probably won't

I hated 17, the teenage years were ghastly.

Best ages so far:

28-29
35-36

Everyone gets their turn to be young, but once it’s gone, it’s gone. Sadly.

I’m older than you, enjoy the age you are now, you are young to me.

StephensLass1977 · 30/05/2026 01:46

No, how can you? The carefree days are over, when the world was so exciting, and there were so many "firsts". The 90s were spectacular. No mobile phones, no social media - just good, honest conversation.

But you have to just enjoy the age you are now. There's no going back.

Nope

DoubleShotEspressox · 30/05/2026 08:02

Ahhhhh nostalgia. Had this conversation yesterday funnily enough, I’m doing a lot of “adult” shit right now with high levels of responsibility.

Teen kids, senior work, house stuff, finances. I am close to 40 so it shouldn’t be shocking but I’m so over it.

Day dreaming about being 21 again, no responsibilities, no stretch marks, no inhibitions, inherently selfish, wearing skimpy clothes in the sun, social, feeling attractive and carefree. Some of the best summers between 17-23.

Youth don’t know they are young.

Wish I had the knees and bladder I had when 17 - thats what I really miss, not the dodgy boyfriends 😄

Nope

I wouldn’t go back for all the tea in China. I may have been slim and fresh-faced at 17, but I certainly didn’t think so. And what would I be trading it for? My confidence, my ability to advocate for myself, my judgement of character, my inner peace and ability to make myself happy. I had none of that as a teenager. A flat stomach and a dewy complexion are just not worth it.

I’m thoroughly enjoying retirement and the empty nest. Very few responsibilities now compared to the days of working FT and raising a family - I loved those years but it’s great to have freedom again.

It depends on what you want. I'm 47, I'll never have the feeling of having my whole life ahead of me. But in the last few years, after I divorced, I've never had so much and such good sex. And a lot of firsts. I'm sad I expect so little from people, but I know much more about myself and I don't worry about pleasing others.
Not a helpful answer, but at least for me I lost a bit and gained a lot.

Well if you get the opportunity given to you, please pass it on to me! I'd happily do it all over again!

I’m 39, and thankfully don’t feel ‘life is full of responsibility, adulting and doing the right thing. ...‘
Life may alight for you again
