Advice needed for caring overnight for an injured baby woodpecker

Hi, I’m looking for advice…my Dd has rescued a baby Woodpecker which was being attacked by a Magpie.
This was about 6pm, she rang a bird rescue but they can’t help her until tomorrow.
She has it in a cardboard box with a towel, can anyone give us advice if what we can do to help it survive.
We can see no obvious injuries or blood.

Make sure it has water. The mum may hang around . Have you heard any calling? Tut tut kin of sound. If he's just shocked he may recover overnight. Good luck, I love our Woodpeckers!

She’s put a small bowl of water in with him/her and I think that’s all she can do now.
She’s going to ring an animal rescue hospital in the morning, who will come to pick him up as Woodpeckers are protected birds.
I think that’s for the best, as she’s seen a bite on top of his head but no blood.
I hope little thing survives, they’re so beautiful and precious.

They do have red on tge back of their heads. Males do anyway! Might look like blood, it's that colour. Glad you got somewhere to take him to give him a good chance at surviving.

He’s still alive this morning and more perky.
She’s in London and can’t find any rescue to pick him up but someone is going to meet her at a tube station and take him.
