Nice restaurant recommendations for a birthday meal in central London

DH had a big birthday coming up and we are celebrating with a trip into London and a show etc.

Can anyone recommend a nice place to eat? We are staying in Marylebone but happy to take a tube and make an evening of it. We like all sorts of food but would love to find a little hidden gem, somewhere with really lovely surroundings and great food, don’t mind cuisine!

What month is it? Bit further away, but do-able, is Bleeding Heart in Farringdon - little tables out in the cobblestone yard

I used to go there when I worked in city - lovely romantic place. I also really liked Andrew Edmund’s in soho but haven’t been for a few years

Clos maggiore in Covent Garden is beautiful and does a great late lunch/pre theatre set menu. Highly recommend for a special place. I'd also recommend having a look in "first table", where you can pick up early evening tables for 50% off the food bill. Quite a few of the nice restaurants in Marylebone are on there

Ha! I’ve been to both places on romantic dates. The Bleeding Heart one to me was from recollection slightly hidden away.

Yes it’s kind of in a courtyard in the city - strangely I used to go when I worked in recruitment many many years ago and used to take contractors for lunch - I think the company had an account there- always felt a bit odd as it was a ‘date’ type place

I love Savoir Faire - French restaurant just behind center point
