Hi, just looking for reassurance really. I have diagnosed additional needs and have paperwork to confirm this. DD is registered as a young carer. Ive ordered and booked a ticket for me. I’ve checked the website and my understanding is that we can go on the day with evidence she is my carer and she will get free entry? Just wondered if anyone has done this and how it worked/where to go. I’m quite anxious it’s not as I thought and we’d only have one ticket 😬

Hi. It may have changed as I went in 2024, but we had to email visitor services to get a carer's ticket added, then we brought proof on the day to collect the ticket.

Thanks, I’ve emailed them to ask in advance.

Yeah I've not been to this but in other venues you do still need to actually book the carer ticket, even though it's free. As they need to have official numbers due to crowd control. So good idea you're checking/contacting them in advance.

The website says you can do it on the day but they’ve already emailed me and confirmed it all. Got my paperwork and the Carers card. Phew, I feel relieved! It’s a long way to travel only to be turned down.

Oh brilliant! It would have been horrible for you to turn up and be turned away.

Just to feedback - it was brilliant! Showed the ticket at the gate and was directed to the ticket booth, showed email, paperwork and carers badge and got issued the carer’s ticket. DD got a bit overwhelmed after an hour (it was very busy and peaked around then) so someone directed us to the sensory room. Had a break, had some food in the outside space and then continued. Definitely calmed down by about 4pm. Actually, if we go again I’d book it a bit later. Tried Butterbeer (far too sweet but the ice cream was nice). We were there 4 hours in total then left because we were shattered! Definitely disability friendly (lots of people with sunflower lanyards and some with physical disabilities). Food and drink was expensive but not surprising (over a barrel springs to mind). But definitely a fun day out!

Glad you had a great time. We usually get there the moment we can and they then kick us out as closing. It really is a full day out.

We took my Dad a couple of years ago and he's disabled. It was v accessible but he also found it a bit busy and overwhelming. They let him nip through a couple of shortcuts to avoid the rush.

We also always take a picnic!
