Hospital - how to thank staff?

Looking for thank you advice for hospital staff. I’m in hospital following big surgeries following a tumor being identified through screening. I want to plot my thanks to the screening unit the surgical ward - everyone really. Saved my life and I hopefully get to see my kids leave school and beyond now.

can nurses/doctors/surgeons/medical assistants please advise what goes down well? Big boxes of doughnuts, nice coffees, fruit basket, don’t know if I could fund a kind of tab at costa at the hospital- I’m so bloody grateful I want to find a chunk of cash for this so up to £100 between the ward and screening unit - what should I do? Thank you!

Finished chemo Thursday. Cancer free. I got loads of pens and small notebooks.
They were very appreciated as they always need pens and note pads for writing down OBS.

A nice card , Pens would go down really well, really really well, they’re swimming in tea and coffee, they don’t need anymore, dear lord no home made food! One or 2 people might eat it, most wouldn’t. Wouldn’t bother with fruit, gets sweaty and mouldy , the baskets look lovely but the majority gets thrown out, crisps is a really good idea from a pp. very short on crisos on the wards! Most people will enjoy ( bought) cakes biscuits and chocolates , I wouldn’t but lots of other people would. If it were me I’d love a pen.

I wrote a card to the team, it was quite a small unit. I went to M&S and bought boxes of biscuits, crisps and Percy pigs… then the next time I went in I took tubs of hero’s and quality street.

Please don’t forget your operating theatre staff! Everyone always gets for the wards but theatre staff are often forgotten!

Agree re support staff btw! Great ideas above and I’ll start recording names as I’m a bit out of it and don’t want to forget. But also know I can’t name everyone so will do both cards and general goodies - like the teas and coffees and chocolates which will last longer than fruit or doughnuts I guess. Thanks for the hints and thanks to @IDontDrinkTea for all you do x

And do email PALS with a compliment, naming particular staff if you want to. It then goes on their record and they are always very appreciative.

Echo above cards mean the most. Generally the wards get tons of biscuits and choc so fruit/savory stuff always makes a nice change. 100% don't forget the anaesthetist for cards. We are definitely the behind the scenes team but I do miss no longer getting cards since moving from the wards (I've collected every one for years and rereading them gets me through the tough days

I've had lot of investigations recently, I wasn't in theatre at any point but biscuits and / or teas were taken to

CT
MRI
colonoscopy staff
endoscopy staff
U/S staff
I even remembered the admin staff

Next time I might take in something savoury like crisps or snacks.

A box of biscuits is always welcome.
If there are any qualified nurses they would appreciate a named thank you card for the three yearly revalidation process.

Thanks all - adding crisps to the hamper. Cross I don’t remember the anesthesiologists name - I know his kids ages and where he’s going on hols though 😆.

Personalised thank you card. Can’t beat nice written feedback for revalidation.
Hand cream! All that hand washing and glove wearing takes a toll!
