Lens replacement surgery - can you put makeup on/do your own eyebrows now?

I had lens replacement surgery in January. My long distance vision is great now and I dont regret it, but I can no longer see my face clearly. Its blurry. I can just about see my skin if I wear glasses, but eye makeup... I feel like I'm putting it on blind!

Is it like this for other people?

I had cataract surgery in September last year. Both eyes. I was shortsighted before and wore glasses all the time, now I only need for reading. My distance vision is good.

Maybe talk to the consultant?

I had lens replacement knowing I would still need glasses for close up work but that my long vision would be fixed and that’s exactly what I’ve got. Long distance is 20/20, night vision is much improved, and I need much less strong glasses for reading etc - +1.5 instead of +3.5. I did expect this.

Thank you. Yes, I have an appointment coming up and will be. I just don't want to be brushed off if its not actually that normal

I find it hard to see kind of mid range - from looking at my monitor at work to looking for something on a shelf too. I can't use my phone without glasses

I had lens replacement 10 years ago. Private and so bifocal ( or equivalent). Was minus 7.5 before. Had laser refining a year later

can pluck eyebrows etc
cant thread a needle
cant put nail varnish on toes unless I hold them at knee height

life changing
on waking up still takes a few minutes to kick

Can you put makeup on? Or see your eyebrows well enough to do anything with them?

The reason I had lens replacement rather than just laser eye surgery was so that Id still be able to see close up. I discussed my hobbies in detail before the surgery and was reassured I'd still be able to do them.. I most definitely can't 😅

I was told I wouldn’t be able to thread a needle and cant

after surgery I apparently had 20/20 vision and could count the roof tiles on a house down the street but close up was variable

had laser on 1 eye which then made it much better. All included in the original price ( moorfields) I was advised in advance that the laser would probably be required

Yes, I had laser surgery to cure my short sight about 20yrs ago and need reading glasses 2.5 strength to see close up. I now have vari-focal glasses that I occasionally use (for anything nearer than 2ft away) and recently bought prescription reading glasses from my optician for my sewing hobby as they’re perfect.

However, I use a magnifying mirror for applying make up. Nothing too strong as I find 5X or 10X is enough.

You might need laser treatment to clean the lenses, called a yag capsulotomy.
DH found his vision was getting blurry five years after his lens replacement and this was recommended at his last eye test.
It is supposed to bring the vision back to the post surgery results - he hasn't had it yet, booked in for next month.

Ive bern wondering about this. I currently wear contact lenses for distance & have to apply my make up before I put my lenses in. I have the beginning of cataracts & am considering surgery but worried that I won't be able to put make up on/pluck my eyebrows etc! It seems very vain, but...
