We got my 6 year old the chicken pox vaccine when we was a toddler - it was just coming out of COVID restrictions and he had been really poorly with pretty much everything (COVID, viruses, strep, tummy bugs etc.) and I just thought it would be one less thing to worry about when his immune system was pretty battered anyway. He had both injections as per guidance. About a year later he got actual chicken pox but relatively mildly, which I understand can happen.
Now every so often (maybe 2-3 time per year) he has outbreaks of about 15-20 spots that really looks like chicken pox and come up over 2-3 days but just on his torso. They are a bit itchy but not too bad and he doesn't seem poorly. Quite often when he's had it I am aware there is chicken pox around, but I don't see how it can be chicken pox every time! We took him to the GP once, but as it wasn't urgent we couldn't make the appointment for a few days by which point the spots were fading and GP said probably hives/allergic reaction.
Just wandered if anyone else has had this? Could it be actual chicken pox? Or some strange immune response? Or can hives look quite like chicken pox? Just a bit baffled what is going on.
