What makes you feel good when feeling low?

Mid 40s- life feels a bit meh. Socialising, good marriage/ home life. Have planned events/ holiday to look forward to but wonder if peri is making me feel low?

Anyone else experiencing/ experienced same low mood? Grateful for tips/ advise.

My stress buster is re-reading an Enid Blyton book, something like the Famous Five, or The Faraway Tree (preferably whilst eating a quarter of sweets). Or Malory Towers.

I am 8 again and not bothered by world/life events.

Probably peri
I like to have a chat to a friend
Visit somewhere local I like
Enjoy good food
Watch a movie, snuggle in with family
or take time to garden.
Lately I have been feeling abit off...it has been talking and having a laugh with my buddies.
Music and new music on spotify.

Boring but:
getting out for a nice long dog walk, especially going somewhere new. Seeing her happy brings me so much joy
exercising. Especially high intensity
reading a really shit book sitting in the sunshine with an iced coffee

Oh absolutely this 👌

I actually read one of my old Noddy books the other day (don't get me started on the awful racism in them though!) and it took me back to being aged 7, living in a Toy Town world with the case of a Swollen Head, and the Bumpy Dog, and the little loud bell on Noddy's hat, and a lot of songs about the toys that Noddy sang so joyfully!

I loved all the Enid Blyton books, and you reminded me of how much I loved them ❤️

I listen to old radio shows from the early 2000s that I discovered sometime in the late 2000s - they have been my constant for the last 20 years and I know they will be for the next 20 years and more.

Same here OP and I’m pretty sure peri is to blame. Lots of time outdoors definitely helps, as well as regular exercise. Find something you enjoy - I love body pump and cycling! There’s also an outdoor yoga class near me which has been great.
Try to eat well with lots of whole fresh foods, and have a few treats, things like dark chocolate.
I went part time at work which has made a huge positive difference but know that isn’t an option for everyone.
I recently started volunteering at my son’s primary school and it brings me a lot of joy.
In short, look after yourself and do some things for yourself, that you love. Hope you feel better OP.

I blast out songs from the 80’s. Funny how I can remember every word, yet I can’t remember what I went upstairs for.

Practicing gratitude. Looking at the things in my life I’m grateful for, and coming up with a bit of a mantra that I replay in my head.

Music, a couple of episodes of Father Ted, spending an hour or two trying on and styling my clothes in exciting ways that I couldn’t wear out in real life (my natural tendency would probably be to go to work dressed like an extra from Pirates of the Caribbean but that would be frowned upon).
