Recommendations for a durable cast iron frying pan that lasts

I have gone through so many frying pans that I feel like investing in one that will last.

ive had ninja frying pans with ‘lifetime’ guarantee but that life was too short it seems. Lasted 2 years.

ive had stainless steel and non stick ones. For a while I was considering hexclad but read some awful reviews so decided against it.

im now considering iron cast pans. Who has one? If you do can you let me know what brand you’ve bought and how they are overall? Do they last? Does food stick to it and can you fry easily in them?

thank you

I know not cast iron but we have a couple of heavy de Buyer carbon steel frying pans. My husband uses them a lot and says they are fairly non stick if he re-seasons them regularly. I'd say they're easy to use and seem pretty indestructible.

We got the cheapest cast iron from tkmaxx 8 years ago. We use it for everything except eggs and pancakes. It's still great. We have a lidl pancake pan and use a cheapy tefal for fried eggs. The are the only things that don't go in the dishwasher (except the knives, obviously)

I have a cast iron from Aldi that’s lasted 5 years, it looks a bit tatty now so I got another one from Aldi recently. £30ish.

I read an article that said that coated cast iron is now cheaper to produce than when Le Creuset had the monopoly on it - it’s all pretty much of a muchness now.

Frying is better on a decent Tefal non stick frying pan. But for most things it’s fab - mine are sauté type ones and I use them for risottos or any sort of stir fry or stew type thing .

We have an old IKEA cast iron frying pan with a wooden handle. Black iron inside, this matters. It's not exactly non stick, like I wouldn't attempt omelette or pancakes in it, but brilliant for all kinds of other cooking, curries, etc. I would just find one you like the weight and size of. A lid is useful (need not be iron).

I’ve a cast iron skillet, idk what brand it is, had it years, reseasoned it a couple of times by coating it in oil and putting it in the oven on high (I don’t open the oven door for a while after, to avoid the smoke).

it’s great for everything, eggs, pancakes, omelettes. I use a little more oil than with a non-stick but the same as with an enamelled.
