Gift ideas for young teens please

I need to buy a number of gifts for nieces and nephews aged 13 - 15. I have absolutely no idea what to get! Budget about £12 each. I don’t really know what they are into, but they are all sporty. I think likely also make up for the girls based on convos, and possibly computer games for the boy. I don’t really want to get vouchers - they want for nothing and my contribution would seem almost irrelevant if done as a voucher. Any ideas please?

For teens I’ve bought:-

smellies like soap and glory or Ted baker (often on 3-4-2 in boots)
one of my friend daughters loves cooking so I’ve bought recipe books
a cinema gift voucher and a packet of sweets/ popcorn
stationery/ craft type things
Nice chocolates
Jigsaws
a nice mug with some hot chocolate and a bag of marshmallows wrapped in cello
tennis balls/ golf balls (if interested)
I know you said not money or vouchers but one done euros/dollars if they’re going away
wicked uncle website have some nice bits too.

You won't get a computer game for £12, not one that they would want anyway. Also do you know what consoles they have, or what type of games they like? You don't really buy games like you used to anymore it's downloading them so actually a voucher would be more useful but again you need to know what platform.

Sorry not particularly helpful.

FoxtrotSkarloey · 20/05/2026 20:51

No, no idea on the consoles unfortunately. I was wondering about stationery, but in my middle age, doubt I’d judge correctly what would go down well. I do like the idea of mugs/masrshmallows/hot chocolates.

I find girls so much easier to buy for

I’ve also done

nice socks
Things for their rooms like photo frames, little ornaments/ signs/ pictures
nice water bottles
Pyjamas (primark do cheaper ones or other places in sales)
sunglasses
jewellery
caps/ hats
sets of body sprays
Rubix cubes
Lego
personalised make up bags/ ear pod cases
mini snack hampers with treats in
those mini lights you can clip on a book
card games

£12 isn’t a huge amount in this day and age and doesn’t go far but I know I try to get things in sales or look for 3-4-2 deals.

i like the clearance tab on the next website and John Lewis have great sale stuff too and I try to keep a bit of a stash of things so if i see things in a sale I get them and save them.

Needmorelego · 20/05/2026 21:04

I'd buy them some books.
Maybe the nice hardback editions of favourite classics from your youth.

Peabody25 · 20/05/2026 21:10

I’ve got a DS who’s 12 and I’d really struggle to buy a gift for his friends without wanting to resort to vouchers as everything they like is so personal to them particularly for a small budget. I’d probably play it save and go for an Amazon voucher and chocolate or sweets or something like a just eat voucher or a hamper of food stuffs you know they like.

LongTimeNoNC · 20/05/2026 21:43

If you don't want to give vouchers or cash, the safest option probably the mug and hot chocolate and marshmallows. Mine would love that. Or something edible.
If you don't know them that well, then more personal gifts like body spray, make up, clothes etc seems like quite a risk.

If you're meeting them at a family event, what about a small travel sized board game or card game they could play together. If you get each have a different one, then they might be occupied for a bit. Or outdoor game (water balloons?) if suitable.

justasmalltownmum · 20/05/2026 21:46

I would get them all nandos vouchers

glacerose · 20/05/2026 21:50

Get them a needoh. They will love you forever

SleepsAThingOfThePast · 20/05/2026 22:43

Vouchers for Costa or similar teens love it .

SleepsAThingOfThePast · 20/05/2026 22:44

Going against the grain for the mug and hot chocolate. Most households have far too many mugs. We're always sending them to charity as often receive similar gifts.

1980isitjustme · 20/05/2026 22:48

Someone mentioned Wicked Uncle which is a good shout. They have some coloured light bars that can be set to react to music or just on a sequence that are fun, unisex and not expensive.

1980isitjustme · 20/05/2026 22:54

Also, moon balls, or aerobie frisbee type things are always popular in my house for taking on holidays or to the park

ByDearRoseGoose · 20/05/2026 23:33

100% needoh

DeathMetalMum · 20/05/2026 23:40

I'd probably go for a sweet box, you can get themed ones from Japan or other places.

Otherwise I'd got for primark or Costa voucher. I wouldn't go for any type of books. My dd's are 13&15 and read a fair amount but apart from the author(s) they are currently reading (which can change like the wind) I wouldn't be able to pick something they would definitely enjoy.

minipie · 20/05/2026 23:41

My 13 year old wants to buy herself a needo so I’m seconding that idea. Moon ball also a good idea - the one on the string is popular with my teen and tween.

I would steer clear of any cosmetics or toiletries as they can be quite fussy about those.

Fluffy socks always a hit.

happydays312 · 20/05/2026 23:56

Needoh seems to be the most popular here!

Sunshine1500 · Yesterday 00:17

Not mugs and hot chocolate for teenagers gifts in summer!
Needoh, online vouchers, make up/perfume, sweets, chocolate.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · Yesterday 06:58

Sporty - Owala water bottles - shop around, you might find some in budget.
Pack of Nike crew socks (about £10 from Sports Direct).
