Should I report a minor collision between my son and a car?

My 13 year old old was cycling home today - he was at a junction about to cross. The sun was shining and very low, a car was coming but seemed to slow (according to my son) so he started to cross thinking she was letting him go and she didn’t slow down and hit his bike, his pedal went into her grill.

He was shocked, says he isn’t hurt and didn’t call me until well after it happened (he was close to home) but she took his number.
I am now not sure what to do… do I just let it go or should I tell the police incase anything comes from it or she decides she has car damage etc? Technically he shouldn’t have started to cross I know (quiet roads so perhaps he is complacent).
All I know is the kind of car she has.
Clearly some lessons need to be learnt from this and I have talked to him about staying put, contacting me straight away etc.

I mean I’d argue she should report it, she’s the one that should have made sure he was safe and ok. In my opinion this isn’t on your Son to report. Hes a child, she’s an adult with an insurance policy.

Car drivers have the responsibility to not hit cyclists.

If her car is damaged she should claim on her insurance.

Car drivers have the responsibility to not hit cyclists.

And cyclists should be responsible for checking its safe to carry out the manoeuvres

low sun, couldn’t really see or judge?? Sounds like the kids problem
