Found out that ex and his gf hit each other

My child has just told me that they are scared of their father sometimes. The father and his girlfriend argue several times a day hit each other on occasion. The physical violence occurs after the children are supposed to be in bed, but they go to the top of the stairs and can see.

What should I do?

Not let your child go to the ex, tell him why and let him contest that if he wants to.
Or take legal advice direct.

I’d find myself a solicitor first thing tomorrow morning and try my utmost to get supervised contact. Or, at the very least, no overnight stays.

Is there a court order in place for contact?

THIS. Solicitor. You're child is being exposed to violence and they will be scared. Protect them.

Based on your relationship with ex is this definitely true and can you speak to him? Awful for your child to witness

I'm sure it's true. My ex is a raging narcissist and I cannot talk to him about anything.

No, but my ex would go for the jugular if I reported this.

He harmed my child previously and I was blamed for it and I had to attend parenting classes as punishment. (Apparently this is normal when mums report child abuse by their ex)

When he actually harmed my child in the past, I paid a very highly respected solicitor £25k and the result was that I was in legal risk because my ex said I was a parental alienator. So I don't think this will do any good.

Police. Social Services. Solicitor. The Child's School. Any avenue possible to make a report. Your children need protection. Don't give up.

I truly think that if I raise it, this will be used against me in a claim that I am a parental alienator. (See above - this is how it went last time, when my ex harmed my child).

If my child were willing to open up to therapists or the school, then maybe protection would become available. But my child only trusts me, especially after what happened last time.

You need to protect your child, that's all there is. How old is your child.
