Can I give dd money monthly via bank transfer if she is on UC.

DD is in full time work on minimum wage. Single parent to 3 children. Her husband died so no other support.
She has no savings at all. I was wondering if I can help with giving her some money per month via bank transfer.
I'm not sure if it's allowed to have savings when on UC.
It will only be about £100 each month.

It's fine to do it but DWP are likely to question it and you'll have to write a letter explaining its a gift not for services e.g doing your ironing etc. Not worth the hassle, better to buy her a Tesco gift card (other supermarkets available obvs!)

This is 🐂💩! £100 per month from mum is absolutely allowed. She may be asked about it during a review (although I doubt it) but as soon as she says her mum helps her out that’ll be the end of it.

I don't want to tell her what to spend the money on so I won't be getting gift cards or pay for shopping.
It will take a few years to get to £6k. It will only be £100 a month.
At the present she has £56 in savings all from rounding up her change.
Life has been a bas*d to her and the children who were 3,2 and 5 months when their dad died.

UC never checked my bank in the 8 or so years I was on it.

I often got transfer from my parents - not monthly, but once or twice a year - and never gave it a second thought.

This is complete nonsense.

How many years have you been a benefit assessor for 😉

About 6 years for me 🤫

Yeah, so point being it saves any hassle and explaining.

They do not ask for a letter. If she has a review, and she says it’s a payment from her mum because her mum is helping her, that is the end of it.

Everyone on here claims to be a benefit expert/work from home DWP/invented the benefit system. But then they post nonsense like that and give themselves away.

@ilovemynails - I send my DD a sum each month as pocket money for my DGC, that's definitely allowed (😉)

I'm not a benefit assessor, but I have been reviewing UC claims for the past 2 years. We would never ask for a letter like this, nor would one be accepted.
