Wash up? Dishes?

DoAWheelie · 17/05/2026 19:07

Hi Rocky, how is Grace doing?

mynameiscalypso · 17/05/2026 19:07

Yes, it’s like a debrief

BertieBotts · 17/05/2026 19:07

What discussion?

What is the point of a thread if you don't explain the question properly?

JustGiveMeReason · 17/05/2026 19:08

Are you asking if we know the term 'wash up' - as, surely everybody has.

Or is this meant to say familiar with the term "Wash up discusiion" ? in which case, no.

HollyhockDays · 17/05/2026 19:08

Yes. Up there with “stand up”. See also huddle and scrum.

Moomintrolleys · 17/05/2026 19:09

R u "that poster"?

VegQueen · 17/05/2026 19:09

Yes, a wash up at work after a project. But I wouldn’t expect everyone to know it.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 17/05/2026 19:09

Only 'wash up' s I know is dishes and that the Americans use 'wash up' for washing their hands... Is there another?

Arlanymor · 17/05/2026 19:10

Wash up is a debrief, most often towards the end of a project (or towards the end of a phase of a project).

OooPourUsACupLove · 17/05/2026 19:10

Yes I've heard it before. Not often but if it was used at work I think we'd all know what it means. (And the ones who don't would just go with it and pretend they did - my industry loves a bit of corporate-speak and no one ever asks what people actualy mean!)

Chuffingcupboard · 17/05/2026 19:10

Yes, familiar with washup meetings at work. Closely linked to lessons learned.

powershowerforanhour · 17/05/2026 19:11

Only in a "I did the cooking, the rest of yiz can wash up" way. Is there another meaning?

HiGunny · 17/05/2026 19:11

Yes HR have used the term at work after rounds of interviews.

TommorrowsToday · 17/05/2026 19:11

A wash up discussion (where I work) is where, at the end of a project, the project stakeholders get together to discuss what went well and what could be improved.

Sometimes called a Reteospective (if the team use Agile methodology).

WonderingWanda · 17/05/2026 19:11

Sounds like it's wanky business speak for a review or follow up.

careerbreak · 17/05/2026 19:12

It’s corporate speak. It just means a discussion about what went well / what didn’t after a project.

yonem · 17/05/2026 19:12

Yes I’ve come across it in multiple workplaces. Don’t think it’s a particularly new term (at least 5+ years old).

Perrygreen · 17/05/2026 19:12

Yes. Mopping up any issues / tweaking future processes after a project or crisis.

Hatty65 · 17/05/2026 19:14

No, never heard it. Is it American?

MNLurker1345 · 17/05/2026 19:15

Do you mean “washed up”?

SpacesNotTabs · 17/05/2026 19:18

Yes, I've heard it used for over a decade, at least. I had assumed it was a civil service thing? A "lessons learnt" meeting seems to be more common these days.

limetrees32 · 17/05/2026 19:19

Sorry everyone.
I should have said " wash up discussion"
Such a horrible term imo .
Rather lacks any slick corporate speak vibes of you ask me .

I wondered if it was an antiquated regional thing.

Yes, I’ve heard it used fairly frequently in business over the years.
