How do you stay on top of hoovering?

We have a very large, carpeted living/dining area where we spend most of our time at home. With a three year old and baby, we need to hoover multiples times a day – both kids drop food when they eat and the baby puts everything in his mouth. Currently, I use my trusty Henry vacuum and was thinking of also buying a small handheld vacuum to spot clean after meals or if I see something the baby might get to. Alternatively, I was thinking of a robot vacuum, but I'm not sure if these can be used multiple times a day, especially with an energetic toddler trying to ride it? Does anyone have any recommendations?

Go cordless decent cordless with changeable batteries and normal corded

wouldn’t bother with robot with kids about and you’d have to wait for it to run rather than as and when hoover

I've got a Henry cordless and it is great. It does have little bags rather than a canister for the dirt but I prefer that as you don't get a delightful Puff of dust when emptying it

That’s great, thanks!

Why are they not eating at a table, I mean we have carpets everywhere and the youngest are 4 under 4 but from youngest to oldest 16 never had these problems, gets hoovered once a day when they go to bed..They know not to walk around with food and if little ones do drop something by accident to pick it up right away and pop it in the bin

They eat at the dining table and in a high chair, but somehow food still ends up on the chairs and carpet. Will get a washable mat for that area.

We have a handheld Dyson but they are more for the car or caravan, we also use ours away in the caravan, I'm not sure I would bother above a normal cordless for use in the house. I would probably get a normal cordless.

We have a Shark cordless. Whether you have pets or not, I'd recommend getting a cordless that has some mechanism to deal with hair. Human hair will wrap around these things so you want something that has an anti wrap feature or something that deals with hair.

Roomba - fantastic little thing

I've just bought a proper, old-fashioned carpet sweeper. Very easy to just have a quick sweep of the high traffic areas. I'm sure it'll get a proper workout when the GCs are here.

Accept that with a young family, the floor won’t be spotless all the time. It’s a homely home not a show home.

Assuming you don't have a kitchen table? My babies/toddlers were never allowed to eat anywhere else. I'm very OCD, controlling, so no food or drink anywhere other than an controlled area. No BLW either! I therefore never had much cleaning. Win/Win.

No, there’s no room in the kitchen unfortunately. Now that the weather is getting warmer I might just feed them at the garden table!

I have a Dyson cordless and use it about two or three times a day. Easy to pop off the wall and hoover after dogs/kids/constant renovations 😝.
