BIRMINGHAM Sunday What to do before heading to Airport

SUNDAY Picking DS up at Birmingham airport at 9.30pm.

So DH and I thought we would go to Birmingham in the day...do something, have food - snacky lunch if we go early then early evening meal...head to airport.

But what can we do, where to eat!!!!!!!!!!!
Is there a cinema in the city?

It's a Sunday so most places will close early, but we can then go for early evening food and stretch out before heading to airport.

Please throw suggestions my way!!!

Seems a shame to have a day in a city you don’t know and then just go to cinema. It’s a great city to wander round eg art gallery, some quirky museums (eg coffin museum!), view from library, canals. Treasure Trail is a good way to see lots in short time. Backs to Backs interesting if you like social history (and if you like reading has big secondhand bookshop).

Oh yes! The back of backs in Hurst Street are great, they're National Trust. Tons of lovely things to do in the city centre. I'd recommend the Orelle on Colmore Row for a meal with great views.

Recommend the Everyman cinema at the Mailbox but there is also Cineworld on Broad Street. You can park just down from Cineworld and it's pricey but still not as exorbitant as the Q car parks. From either cinema you can walk to Gas St basin and wander down the canals. Loads of places to eat by the canals.

A few people have mentioned the back to backs. Just be aware that if you decide to go there you need to book as its timed entry only.

If you know how to drive a bin lorry there might be something for you to do.

That's bin going on a very long time now.

Cucina Rustica or Pizza di Piazza if you're near St Paul's Square - both nice independent Italians.

The Indian Brewery near Snow Hill.

Or if you fancy pub grub, the Old Joint Stock or Old Contemptibles

Birmingham museum and art gallery is amazing. Has the largest collection of Pre-Raphaelites in Europe. Also there's a monster Primark in the city centre.

Ii like Mythos Greek Taverna ( their Spanakopita is like a pie, will be having this next week to line my stomach)

There is also a fab I think Nepalese restaurant in the Arcadian

Damascena opposite the Cathedral is amazing. Fabulous middle eastern food and very reasonably priced.
