Blood Test Results - Serum Gamma - Any medics able to give advice?

I saw my friend on Sunday, and she was very upset about blood test results. She had had a whole range of stuff done due to a health review, which were all within the normal range apart from the Serum Gamma one which was 101. She said the GP had almost accused her of being an alcoholic. Her last result a year ago was low 70s (can't remember the exact number she said) and is to be repeated in 3 months.
She asked for my help, but I am not sure exactly what I can do! So I am asking here if this result is worrying, and if there is anything she can do to help bring this number down? She says she doesn't drink a lot, which in my presence is certainly true as we usually both drive when we meet up and she is on soft drinks. I obviously don't know what she does when I'm not there! From the research I've done, it seems the SG levels can be raised if you are overweight, which she is, or on statins, which she is.
Any ideas?

I wrote a huge reply then lost it!

The best things she can do are lose weight and give up alcohol. In 3 months she can reverse this.
She probably has metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance.(Google them)
The blood test is a very sensitive one and the GGT goes up very easily but also comes down easily.

Statins can affect the GGT but I'd advise the lifestyle changes too.

Im overweight and probably got insulin resistance too as my blood sugars are higher than I'd like. I just need a kick up the backside to do something about it. I used to challenge my patients to lose weight and they always lost more than me. But their bloods went back to normal.

Good luck

Thank you so much, Musicaltheatremum. I will pass this info on, and hope my friend can do this. She really was very worried, but what you say sounds doable to me.
