How much to gift sons girlfriend for birthday

They have been together a few years and live together, I have previously bought a gift for her birthday but we won't be visiting and it's too late to send anything so I'll be sending some money and I'm curious as to what others would give or think is a normal amount to gift in this situation.

My ds’s gf is 20, but they have been together a long time. My gifts to her have varied. Pandora charm, €35 Zara voucher, Stanley cup. I think 30 quid in a card is plenty.

£50?

£20 is fine

I’m married for 10 years and generally get 30-50 pounds. I think it depends on your circumstance. As long as you aknowledge it I think it’s fine.

Depends on your family culture. My family don’t usually buy presents for adults birthdays but do presents at xmas.
My husbands family do both. We usually try to stick to £30-40 each and I’d say they usually spend a bit more maybe £40-£50. I’d be delighted with whatever they decided to give me.

I give my son-in-law
to be £100 usually as a
restaurant voucher. I would caveat this with I have two DC and I only
give presents to them, no nieces, no nephews, no siblings or friends. Felt the need to add this
as didn’t want to be appear over generous in my present giving.

Our family is small. DS and DIL, DD and BF and v elderly mothers.

GF's and BF's get a token, and I think £50 is about right. DIL gets the same as DS now they are married.

Depends on income tbh. My mil will pop 10 pound in a card for me ( dh ands kids too btw) as thats all she can afford. I really appreciate the thought and the chocs i buy.

I think it depends how big the family is and how many people you buy gifts for. 50 seems a lot to me, but then I’ve got 2 children, 9 nephews/nieces and 3 godchildren to buy for. Not counting my siblings /mum/parther/ friends’ birthdays. If I did 50 for each of those I would end up skint lol. 30 seems a nice round figure for a normal birthday :)

I’m with you - massive family = less extravagant presents! I have ds1’s gf £30 for last birthday, they’ve been together 4 years.

£20 is standard in our family for partners and spouses also adult grandchildren/nieces/nephews, cards or giftcards. But there are quite a lot of us on both sides.

Ballpark of £50 for step-sons and daughter in laws, my own children get more but they are still at home, their partners get £50 as do the grandchildren
