It’s in a 70l pot for the next couple of years, I think it seems happy though as it has buds ?

Looks very healthy. I can’t see any reason why it would take years to flower? Once wisteria gets going it’s like a triffid

OttersOnAPlane · 12/05/2026 07:40

Mine took 5 or 6 years to properly flower. Some things are worth waiting for.

CreamFirstJamSecond · 12/05/2026 07:50

Reddit is fibbing. To flower properly ours took 8 years. Ours would have flowered sooner if we’d looked after it properly.

This is what I thought if it has buds it must be healthy, there are a few small mushrooms in the pot though which is confusing ? Anyone know why they are there ?

Probably because your soil is very damp

My wisteria is glorious, at the 6 year mark it went wild and needed serious taming

I read just yesterday that a lot of what makes up peat free compost is recycled mushroom compost so this could be why

CraftandGlamour · 12/05/2026 08:01

Totally depends on the plant. I tend to only buy wisteria (I've planted a few over the years) when they are in bloom so I know they can and will again. I find they usually take a year or two to bloom once I've planted them bit nothing like what Reddit is telling you.
