Ovulation pain solidarity?

Since my second c-section 10 years ago, I have been experiencing increasingly painful ovulation pain lasting between 24-48 hours. It totally wipes me out and I spend the whole time in bed. Ibuprofen doesn't touch it. My pelvis is achey for the next 2 weeks until my period starts and I am so bloated my clothes don't fit.

HRT helped but for other reasons I can't use HRT now, so I am stuck with the pain. No GP or gynaecologist (even private) is mildly interested. I was once told that to diagnose me, I would need laparascopic surgery and it wasn't worth it.

What on earth do I do? Carry on in pain? Or is there anything else I can try? Even some solidarity would be very welcome as I'm pretty low.

No advice but I hear you and experience similar, minus the bloating. It was always bad but i'm 48 now and its far worse.24 hours of hell, I can't get comfortable or concentrate for the pain, it makes me sweat it's so bad. On a couple of occasions i've been convinced it was appendicitis. I have had a couple of scans for it over the years but nothing untoward has been found. If I were you I would go back to a different GP if possible though, push for a scan or anything as I know it can be debilitating. Hot water bottles and warm baths help me slightly. Good luck x

Same here, scans show nothing. Thank you for responding. It feels very isolating, and the pain is unreal.

No advice beyond painkillers. I used to have this and it was horrible plus no one really understood.

That's awful OP. It's so disheartening that none of them have been interested. Typical medical misogyny. All I'd say is it's NOT normal or ok to have to plough through this amount of pain. It must be affecting your mental health too. There must be something they can do. No experience myself but would an endometriosis charity be of any help for providing advice on getting doctors to listen?

Not to the same extent but yes I’ve experienced painful, more noticeable ovulation since having c sections. I get very heavy clear discharge for a week leading up to it, like a period in terms of volume. Bloating, discomfort. Then about half a days worth of very intense stabby pain which I presume is the egg being released. It can be managed with paracetamol thankfully.

Could it be to do with the scar tissue in the area?

Could you take the progesterone only pill to stop ovulation or is that too much like HRT?

One of my ovaries is adhered to the outside of my uterus by endometriosis and was incredibly painful when I had my period. The progesterone only pill has completely fixed that.

Yes good idea to try an endo charity. Thank you

I think it is definitely tondo with scar tissue but also something hormonal as the HRT did help. Back to the GP with me....
