Have you cured chronic lower back pain??

Struggling with constant back pain, which started when I returned to office work ie a sedentary role a year after assisted instrumental delivery of my second child. So tired of it, struggle to believe that exercise will help sufficiently… can anyone inspire me with a success story please? Feeling very low that this will be the rest of my life. I’m in constant pain, and I’m only 36…

Probably a weak pelvic floor. This caused me back pain but private physio helped.

I do believe exercise will help. It just feels like a mountain to climb, as it were, to be consistent and do enough to help myself properly. Young dc, working ft, business on the side - it all feels a bit insurmountable, so I was seeking some inspiration.

It is awkward but what's worse is back pain that will never get better and you've years of life ahead of you. A few mins a day or years of pain and misery? I know which I would opt for. When you are sat at work do you cross your legs? Right away that is creating an imbalance. No effort req to change that habit.

You need to get a diagnosis. Get a second doctors opinion op if you need to.

In my 30s i was told I had sciatica and to go mountaineering by my gp as it what he did to fix his.

I actually had to have surgery and then a year of intensive physio. I’ve had a disability ever since and can never do anything like Pilates or yoga or sit on the ground.

So other people’s exercise plans may make your condition worse.

I went from zero exercise to super active despite a full time job, young kids (one wirh SEN), a.part time post grad and a chronic health condition. A couple of years ago I honestly did nothing and had constant back pain. I now lift weights 4 times a week, do a couple of cardio sessions, a pilates class, couple of shorter deep core sessions and up to 20k steps a day. I didnt do it all at once, slowly started introducing things and once it was embedded and a habit I introduced another. Exercise and movement is now a non negotiable part of my life and me and my DH figure our schedules out to allow each other the time to exercise. We also walk everywhere by default. If we can walk it in less than 60 minutes, we do. Town, cinema, dinners out etc- we rarely use the car now. At work if I am having a meeting that can be a phone call and I dont need to take notes, I sometimes do it whilst on a walk. Have just figured out loads of ways to incorporate movement. Dialling into a meeting where I need to listen but not engage? Turn camera off and do some squats or stretches. I get my youngest who is 9 involved in yoga and pilates

Obviously you need to figure out what works for you but when I started I would have said I absolutely didnt have time to exercise but have figured it out and adapted as time has gone on. You can definitely find 15 minutes a day to do some stretching and strengthening stuff so start there

yes it really depends on the yoga in my experience. Forest yoga is quite cultish but the founder merged yoga with physio stuff so it’s actually mostly really good for backs (I think she broke her back which is how she got into yoga)

When I branched out and did other yogas I realised it really wasn’t good for me.

The good news is that the kilted yoga bloke in Scotland does a version of forest yoga 😁

I’m sure you’re right but I hate yoga and the physio said I never had to do it again 😀
When I see the studies that prove that yoga is so good for you I always wonder if they’ve done a study which only includes people who don’t like yoga.
I do enjoy Pilates and it’s the only exercise I’ve ever stuck with so I’m just grateful I found something that works for me.
