What can I do with my qualifications, to earn more money?

I was made redundant not so long ago.

I already have a Level 3 tutoring qualification
A degree.
A Master's degree (both in sociology).
A counselling qualification.

I have experience tutoring counselling students.

I was made redundant from a college I tutored in, hybrid work, around a year ago. At the moment I work 4 days a week from home. The pay is absolutely crap, professional position but not much more than minimum wage and once I've paid bills etc I have next to nothing left. No availability for 5 days and won't be for a long time, I was told this when I asked.

I live on my own and I can foresee that I will begin to struggle soon.

Every job that has been somewhat viable is the same or perhaps a tiny bit more money, and involves a long commute and the costs would just eat up any extra. Plus I'd have to pay for a dog sitter/walker.

I have a freelance job 16 hours a month(tutoring) which pays great but it is coming to an end fairly soon and I just don't think I will be able to find other tutoring work to fit around my 4 days a week job.

I was thinking of more freelance work instead of keeping trying in vain to find a job with similar hours and home working as mine, as that is drawing a total blank. Maybe putting a bit of money into training to be an assessor but having looked into that a little, I can't see a guarantee that any work would come my way even if I did that. I am wary of spending on education again as that has landed me where I am now!

Is there something I am missing, or is this just the way things are now? I have tightened up just about everything I can think of already!

What is ‘more money’?

you could do a level or gcse tutoring online?
work for your local authority in education or youth services?

Can you not do counselling itself? A friend does this part time (self employed but with contracts from a local organisation) plus has private clients.

You could provide training/workshops to organisations on organisational culture etc

Work in wellbeing roles ie. Universities to support students

Anything really, an extra £100 a week would be sufficient!

I have applied for a lot of jobs tutoring A level students online but not got anywhere, I think because I do not have QTS and have only ever taught adults and adult subjects, never any GCSE ones. I would happily teach sociology A level but never had as much as a reply Sad

I have looked at LA jobs, some of them are less money than I am on now, or just about the same and again involve being out of the house which would add costs on. It's a bit of a trap.
I will have a look at youth services, that does interest me somewhat.
Thank you!

I have more or less given up with private practice. It's so flooded. If you were to look at the counselling groups I am on on fb there's many leaving the profession and/or taking up other work as they just cannot make it financially viable. I was making so little money from few and far between clients that paying for supervision was taking up 50% or more of what I earned. I might see if any local organisations are taking counsellors on however, see if it could fit around my current work. Thank you.
