Would you message to ask how she is?

My physio cancelled earlier because his 3yo was taken to hospital after an accident.

I've been going to him for about 15 years, and he talks about family a lot. I know all about the wedding, the pregnancy, the weaning, the first steps etc. However, I am very much a client, we're not friends.

Right or wrong to ask how she is? Obviously I sent best wishes and told him not to worry about the cancelled appt earlier.

Yes, I think that would be a nice thing to do.

Don’t, that would be weird.
At the next appointment I’d make a quick remark that I hope all is well with the child.

No! He'll have enough on his plate dealing with family stuff, don't add having to message you back to his mental load. Ask about her next time you see him.

I agree with this. If you message him, he might feel obliged to reply if he’s self employed, and he’ll have enough on his plate. I think he’d probably very much appreciate asking after her at your next appointment though.

Unless you’ve text about personal things before, no I wouldn’t. Save it for your next appointment and ask then.

I think a text in a couple of days would be appropriate, but not today. He'll have enough on his plate without having to politely reply to a client.

Perhaps on Tuesday or Wednesday, "Hi John, no need to reply. Just texting to say I hope all is well with your daughter and that she's making a good recovery. Hopefully see you soon. Best wishes, OP."
