Does anyone else miss Woolworths for everyday shopping and memories?

Is it just me, or does anyone else miss Woolworths?
When I was a child, my mum used to buy my toys from there.
As a teen, it became my place to get my records and the Outdoor Girl make-up!
With my first home, they became the place to go for equipment I needed, anything from a cutlery set to a washing-up bowl!
I have most of my Christmas decorations from Woolworths. The first Christmas my daughter was born, we bought a dove to go on the tree and we still have it. We tend to use it instead of a star or angel.
They were the place for knitting yarn to make my kids' clothes.
Added to which in our small town it was the best shop and you could easily kill time or get out the rain by browsing in there

Yes Woolies was very much part of my life growing up. Flicking through posters, choosing stationary. Bought all my box set of Friends on VHS from there!
Best was the range of Easter Eggs. I may have made more of it in my mind than it was but I remember rows and rows of every different type of Easter egg you can imagine.

I remember Mum buying a portable typewriter from Woolworths, a proper portable one. I had it for years; I'm not sure what happened to it in the end. it was a smart brown colour.
Of course, I forgot the paint was always the place we got paint when I was at home and then when I had my own home. It was of good quality, had nice colours, and applied well—a lot cheaper than big brands and just as good.
The Woolworth's in the big city about 15 miles away had a cafe. Cooked breakfasts and tea with cakes. perfect for refreshing you before you got back to shopping.
I loved the posters too displayed on those metal units; I used to spend hours clanging them back and forth, looking like I was interested in buying one!

I dont only miss woolies, but BHS and Littlewoods

Even in the 90's , a Sunday shopping trip started in BHS with a cooked breakfast

Loved Littlewoods for their cheese counter

Both stores had an array of clothing choices, you were always going to find that one thing

And the Christmas Shops.

When I was dead poor Id buy those vouchers in advance for Christmas ( cant mind the name - Park something or other ) and we used to head into the city to spend. BHS took the lot, Always went Blue cross week and £100 of vouchers would easily get you £300 of clothes and gifts
