At what age are you allowed to feel old and knackered?

Is 43 ok? Because some days I feel completely broken physically and good for nothing!

Oh I was going to say…. 75? I’m 64 and I feel it but mainly because I need to lose quite a lot of weight. Most people I know are very active at this age
(and yes most still work and quite a few still have kids at home - as I have my uni aged DD).

Same here!

I don’t know about you but because I am over sixty and overweight, my algorithms have lead to virtually every post on Instagram or wherever featuring personal trainers offering post-menopausal work outs! I haven’t searched for them! It’s just what is on offer.

And even adverts for walk-in baths and funeral plans feature rather sprightly looking middle aged folk.

Op, in answer to your question, seemingly never! I rather hanker after the days when it was acceptable for older women to look old and somewhat shrunken, go for ‘a shampoo and set’ one day a week, wear a mac and a plastic hood over ordinary clothes to go for the weekly food shop on the bus and enjoy a game of bingo one evening a week.

Now you have to buy arch support trainers, go walking with strange poles, eat protein and weight train, and make an effort to look stylish. We go on parenting for much longer than ever before and are much more involved with the emotional welfare of our offspring. And we retire later and later. We need to then look after grand-children at least two days a week. It’s bloomin’ exhausting!

In my early 30s started needing a nap every day and was eyeing up sleeping under my desk at work….my b12 was lower than a 70 year old apparently.

mid 40s, went to London with a friend and we hardly moved from the hotel…low iron due to perimenopause.

get yourself checked out!
