Buses outside London

I should know this. I do know this. I’m going to South coast soon. But I just double checked and last bus eg from Rye to Camber is 7 or 8pm. Last train eg from Hastings is 10.30pm. Other option is taxis which aren’t necessarily cheap. I guess as a Londoner I’m used to late night/all night tubes. Basically I want to have a drink and not drive but looks like I have no choice.

That sounds about right, be glad you don't live rurally. The last bus for me back from the nearest large town is 18:25, no service on Sundays, bank holidays or if there isn't an "R" in the month. The previous bus is at 16:45, so anybody who finishes work about 1700, has to hang around for a bus that may or may not be on time. It's not a surprise that most people use their cars instead, while "Worst Bus" pockets loads of subsidy,

I know but why? Don’t people want to go out later? More profit for pubs and restaurants. Less drink driving?

There will be a lot of cab companiea that go from Rye to Camber and back due to events at the holiday park. Are you going to an event there? If so could you see if anyone wants to share a cab.

Not for the evening/night obviously, but the walk from Rye to Camber isn't too taxing and it very scenic.

Irs Not London versus the rest of the uk
Some areas are better than others ,
There are some Buses in manchester that are 24/7 and whilst the Tram system isnt 24 hours it starts at 6am and finishes at midinight during the week and 1am weekend.

Many areas of the country would love more regular public transport but unfortunately the funding for it simply isn’t there. I once read (I don’t know how true it was then/is now) that London’s public transport costs more than the rest of the UK’s combined!

It's a density of population thing as well. There are probably more people served by the single bus stop at the end of my road in London (4 buses, two of which are 24 hours) than the population of many villages and suburbs.
