Hello.

I’m going to a gig at the London stadium soon and just wondering where to stay.

I’m on a budget so have narrowed it down to travelodge either in Greenwich, Docklands or Becton.

Which one in your opinion would be best to stay at for ease of travel to London stadium, and have a nice feel around it for somewhere to stay?

Thanks

Greenwich is lovely, do that. Have a nice morning walking around the day after.

What time does the concert end? You'll need to use DLR from Straford to get to any of those locations. Greenwich might involve changing trains at Canary Wharf - not complicated, just make sure you exit into centre platforms.

sakura06 · 29/04/2026 22:56

Not the Lewisham one which is most southerly on the map. It’s a 10 minute walk from the DLR and can be a little sketchy at night. The £509 is closest to Greenwich centre. That is eye-wateringly expensive though!

Everlil · 29/04/2026 23:03

None of those!! Are you doing something before or after the gig? Are you staying for a couple of nights? If you’re literally going to the gig and back to a hotel, it doesn’t really matter where you stay. What are you looking for, cheapest price, nice hotel, quick journey home, somewhere to spend a couple of days, etc?

HundredMilesAnHour · 29/04/2026 23:05

Of the locations you’ve given, Docklands is easiest / best connected for the London stadium.

Everlil · 29/04/2026 23:06

Also I would stay north, not sure why you’d want to journey south (unless it’s easier to get home). Have you thought about Stratford or Hackney? When a gig kicks out and everyone is piling on the tube, it’s often quicker to get a cab or bus and be close by.

shivermetimbers77 · 29/04/2026 23:25

are those prices per night OP? That’s eye watering!.. Greenwich town centre /high road is your best bet if you’re going for a travelodge.

It finishes at half 10, so realistically we’ll probs be out at 11

These are the cheapest. It’s for 3 nights.

Hoping to keep it around £500 mark

We’re staying for 3 nights. Is the Docklands a safe area?

Docklands is as safe as anywhere as long as you're sensible.

The immediate area around that Travelodge isn't lovely, but you can use Canning Town on Jubilee line or DLR stations to get to other places. You are in one of the areas dominated by multi-lane busy roads - check it out on Google maps street view.

The Greenwich High Road is by Deptford Bridge DLR on the A2 busy road and again, depending what you're used to, it might look a bit grim but it's safe and a reasonable base to get back to Greenwich or into central London.

Are those Travelodges cheaper than the Premier Inn by Lewisham station, Holiday Inn Express in Royal Docks or Novotel by Greenwich Station?

What else are you planning to do when you're in London?

Alouest · Yesterday 15:44

I am from the other side of London but stayed in Greenwich for a wedding a couple of years ago and we used Airbnb. It was much cheaper than any of the hotels nearby and we were very central - about two minutes walk from the station. The place we stayed at no longer seems to be available but there are plenty of others in sensible locations at good prices. Could be worth a look?

Thank you!

We have a gig on the fri night… then have all day Saturday and Sunday to be tourists, with another gig on the Sunday night.

It’s Metallica. so we won’t be spending loads of time at the hotel.

I'd be reviewing the specific hotels on tripadvisor closely. What time of year are you going? Travelodge are cheap but I hate them. Windows don't open, no air con and you'll swelter is its more than 18' outside. If you are lucky, they'll give you a tiny desk fan!

Everlil · Yesterday 18:51

If you’re staying for three nights I’d pick somewhere else. Transport is so easy in London, don’t base yourself there for just one night out. What do you want to do/see the rest of the time?

shivermetimbers77 · Yesterday 23:29

I’m still favouring Greenwich for you OP :) Just because it’s pretty lovely in its own right (you’ve got the cutty sark, Greenwich market, Greenwich park with the royal observatory, maritime museum and great view from the top of the hill). Plus you can get the uber boat along the river to Tower of London, embankment , london eye etc.. plus overground train to London Bridge easily for borough market etc. Or DLR if you prefer. It’s a lovely place to base yourself.. I do agree with pp that recommended Airbnb over travelodge but it’s up to what you prefer OP. Enjoy!
