Any Polish speakers?

I'm travelling to Poland next week and I'd really like to improve on "po prosze..." when ordering in a cafe. Is there something else that I can say that would be the normal language rather than tourist language? Would it be better to say "zamówić, prosze..." or is there something else that is better?

What would be the correct way to list a round of drinks ie in English I would say, "can I have a large beer, a small beer and two apple juices please?" Would it be right to just directly translate that to, "Zamówić, duże pilot, yedno mała piwo I dwa jabłko sok?"

Help help help! I've been using duolingo to learn but it hasn't clicked just yet and I need someone to help me for when I actually have to have a conversation!

Ps I do want to speak Polish and try very hard not revert to English!

Czy mogę zamówić duże piwo, jedno małe piwo i dwa soki jabłkowe?

You will have to practise practise practise the pronunciation. Its such a hard language! Good for trying. Ive been going for years and am rubbish.

Thank you so much! And how would you order a side of chips? I tried this last time I went because my DS was being a super fussy eater but when I ordered in Polish I would always say "alba frytki" but the chips with the main meal that I ordered and not the side?

Thank you! My grandparents were Polish so I heard the language a lot growing up and am not bad at the tricky pronunciation. It's putting sentences together that confuses me as they spoke a mixture of pidgin English and Polish to me. My DP only speaks English now because they found learning English so difficult and has forgotten their mother tongue - still has perfect pronunciation though 50 years on!

You'll find the portions will be tje same whether as part of the meal or a side dish

You'll struggling with stringing sentences together because, whilst in English most word are the same regardless of where in a sentence they are or whether you're talking about yourself or someone else, in Polish most words can take a slightly different form (e.g. an ending of a verb) depending on where in the sentence it is or who the sentences is about (you, me, him, her, them etc).

Eg. Ja lubie ciastka. I like cookies.
Ty lubisz ciastka. You like cookies.
Oni lubia ciastka. They like cookies.

Don't worry too much about getting it right, just keep going.
Use gestures and English words if you're struggling.
