Not for savings, just general pocket monry, with their own bank card. Thanks!

We got DC a HSBC account as that's who we banked with and as they already had our details it was the easiest to open. They have a card, no fees and can access their account through an app. I think it also automatically opened a savings account at the same time which has encouraged them to save as well.

@Roserunner. We did the same

How old are they? There's different age restrictions at different banks.
Mine had santander as I was a customer. It was difficult to sort out an admin error on their end so swapped to nationwide which has been great.

Thank you - They are 9 and 10. I have Natwest and Lloyds accounts so will look with them. I looked at Gohenry but 3.99 a month!

My 12yo has a Halifax Smart Spending account. She also has a Halifax savings account that we set up when she was born, so it made sense to me to have all her accounts in one place. She got it when she started Y7 and it's been great so far. They give you a separate Smart Saver account but we haven't used that as she's already got one.

If you have a NatWest account, you are eligible for the kids Rooster cards without having to pay the monthly fee.

Get a Rooster card with NatWest. No fee, and there is an app. It’s really good.

Seems they're too young for Natwest and Lloyds for a "current" account.

My DC has a Hyperjar top-up style card, which she likes using

Nationwide from 11 - current account and savings account with decent interest rate
