Where to stay for Nathan Evans festival near Edinburgh in August

We've booked tickets for Nathan Evans' day festival

22nd August at Edinburgh Highlands centre. It clashes with a big Edinburgh festival so all hotels etc are £££

Just wondered if anyone in the know has any tips on where to stay before i go down an inter et rabbit hole. We'd be happy to AirBnB, camp, caravan etc

It’s right next to the airport so you could try one of the hotels there. I’d also look at Edinburgh park area as it’s on the tram line. If you are driving you could look slightly further afield for places like Livingston or queensferry areas. I think it’s £10 to park at the show ground well it was last year when we went to chappel roan.

Edinburgh Airport hotels can be very expensive. I would consider staying north of the river, taking the train from inverkeithing to Edinburgh gateway then tram to the airport.

You'll probably find all the camp/caravan sites around the outskirts of Edinburgh already fully booked for August.
I'd recommend a hotel at the gyle. This one has a tram stop right outside and is a mile from the Highland centre, 10 minutes from airport. Around £230 for the night. I don't think you'll find anything cheaper in August. The area is very quiet at night too so I'd imagine you'd get a decent night's sleep.

Thank you! We'd have to stay 2 nights so would be £££

We don't even want to go - ds is mad on him though!

We have friends we could stay with in Fife, just need to work out if we could get back to theirs on public transport at that time of night!

Thanks all!

Prices in Edinburgh are ridiculous in August. I’d look at Stirling, Falkirk or Glasgow. Scotrail usually run late trains during the festival. There are late buses that run from the airport and might pick up from Ingliston.

Also , the “Happy Bus” will likely run loads of services to the concert from all around Scotland which opens up other possibilities in Fife and Dundee.

We travel from Glasgow.

Also try Livingstone for direct trains.

I had to go and clean a house near Edinburgh last year in Aug and it was £££, so ended up in Livingston. I like the Premier Inn there, it's fine, right on the motorway, so easy to get to the Airport area.

Consider Dunfermline, Rosyth or Kinross. Ember bus will bring you over the Bridge and into Park and Ride at Ingliston. It runs 24 hours but you must book your seat.

I looked for accommodation for one night during the festival and even a windowless room the size of a bed at the Easyhotel was £320.
I would stay further away. Public transport is pretty good. I used to go to and back from the festival by train from Dundee when I lived there with no problems.

Another idea @NorthEastNancy would be to stay near to a station along the new(ish) Tweedbank - Edinburgh line.

Last train leaves Edinburgh at 23.44. An hour to Tweedbank but other stations closer.
