Greenwich market

Visiting London shortly, staying in Woolwich. Mostly tied up with family stuff but will likely have a half day or so to spare. Is Greenwich market nice for a mooch? Older people, not so interested in tat but like food, vintage type bits and pieces, arty stuff, jewellery, etc. Likely wouldn't buy anything but wander, look, eat, maybe have a drink.

Yes, Greenwich market’s good for that sort of thing.

Also see if the food market’s on by the river, I don’t know what its dates are but it had good stuff last time I was there.

Greenwich market is nice but it won't fill up half a day. It's actually quite small - maybe combine with a clipper trip up the Thames?

Yes it’s lovely, there’s a great pie&mash shop around the corner and it’s a 5 minute walk to the park or river.

Thanks all

Greenwich is lovely and you could easily spend a half day. The Market is nice for browsing albeit small. You could combine a market trip with the National Maritime Museum / Greenwich Park / Royal Naval College etc. nearby.

There’s also a vintage market in Greenwich opposite St Alfege’s Church.

Depending on which day you go there are three different market areas. The covered market has lots of small shops/boutiques around the edges of the stalls, and the streets at either end of the indoor market have some independent shops selling art, clothes, etc. There's an Oxfam book shop and a decent-sized Waterstones, loads of places to eat/drink, and as a pp said, some days there are lots of street food stalls near the Cutty Sark. You could easily spend 2+ hours doing all that.

There's some lovely pubs, my favourite is the Cutty Sark (further east than the Trafalgar Tavern), Pulman Arms and Plume of Feathers.
Walk up to Deptford and go to The Dog and Bell, you will not be disappointed.

I love Greenwich market, you could wander up to Blackheath too or go the other way for a walk along the Thames via the foot tunnel

The ashburnam is also a really good pub. Does a lovely Sunday roast

Greenwich market is lovely and worth a visit. Greenwich itself is also well worth a good mooch.

The Cutty Sark, the Gypsy Moth, the Royal Maritime Museum, the park and the Old Royal Observatory are all within easy walking distance of each other. Plus there are many lovely pubs and restaurants. You won't be short of stuff to see and do in Greenwich, that's for sure. Go to it on the riverboat from Woolwich.

Don't forget Greenwich Park itself. It comes alive with people when the weather is good.

I would go to Blackheath, walking through the village, over the heath to the park, through the park (great views of London) then through Greenwich

Is it on both Saturday and Sunday?
