Any idea what this eye bump is?

This bump has been on my eye for approx 5 months, ive tried squeezing it and it seems to go smaller for a day or two then back the same. I want it removed ASAP, but after googleing treatments who I need to see depends on what it is. Milia are treated by a cosmetic nurse, chalazions by surgery. I don't want to waste the GPs time as its cosmetic, it doesn't hurt whatsoever. Any help will be very much appreciated 👏

I don't think its a chalazion - i thought they only occurred along the eyelash line?

But im not medically qualified!

ShakyBake · 24/04/2026 15:51

Do you have high cholesterol?

MauriceTheMussel · 24/04/2026 15:52

Agree it’s not a chalazion

as it’s in the crease, it’s likely just a clogged pore. I’d pop it with a sterile needle and hot flannel it

catipuss · 24/04/2026 15:54

A small cyst, if you are brave a needle might get it out, but it's in a very difficult position and you would have to be very careful.

DaffodilsandDillies · 24/04/2026 17:44

@ShakyBake what's that got to do with it ?

Inextremis · 24/04/2026 18:10

@DaffodilsandDillies High cholesterol can cause xanthelasma - yellowish fatty deposits on the eyelid. I used to have them when my cholesterol was high (they slowly disappeared once I started on statins). This does not look like xanthelasma.

Thanks all, Ive tried to pop it before and its just like a flab, cant even feel liquid inside.

Nope, no high cholesterol. I think im going to book in with an aesthetic nurse and see what they say. It really stands out with no make up on.

I get these, I just cut them off with nail clippers 😬 they're a bit like a skin tag? Never grown back and I'm not dead yet....

Yes I suppose it is as in it sticks out a bit? But not much. Not sure im brave enough to clip it off but might do the tying cotton around it trick and see if it works .

Could it be the start of a filiform wart? My daughter had a particularly big one under her eye and it started like that, then she had lots.

If it is, then freezing spray works

Hi, It looks like Milia, also known as Milk spots. They're harmless, quite common to get on eyelids.

Sheknowsaboutme · Yesterday 07:01

Its milia

Can be removed easily but dont do it yourself.

i had mine removed fir free at a local beauty training college for the girls doing the level 3 beauty

TheCosyRain · Yesterday 08:10

Just looks like a skin tag to me. I’ve had ones in various places and just scratch them off although may be tricky to do on an eyelid

ViciousCurrentBun · Yesterday 09:02

I had one of those they are harmless, the Dr will not do anything as cosmetic. But mine was right on the outer corner of my eye and blocking vision so they did remove with liquid nitrogen at the hospital.

MrsCarmelaSoprano · Yesterday 09:06

Hot wash cloth every day for a week for a good 5 mins and then if it doesn't go a sterilised needle will do it. Make sure you get it warm first though, they're really easy to get out if they're warm.
