Hotel recommendations near Co-op Live and shopping in Manchester?

Looking for hotel recommendations for a concert in Manchester. Its in Co Op live. Just me and one very nervous child, who does not like walking. Won't have a car. Looking for something that's within walking distance of both the venue and shopping. Nothing too expensive. Thanks all.

The co op live is a distance from the city and Manchester is expensive compared to other cities- often more than London ime. The Ibis on Pollard street is a 25/30 min walk from the Co op and 15 mins into the city. I would stay in the city and get the tram or uber out to the co op as you'll have a lot more options.

You can get the tram from the city centre out to the co-op live, but be aware there will be long queues after the concert. You could get an Uber but you’ll have to walk a little bit to get to somewhere it’ll pick you up. You can’t be within walking distance of the venue and the shopping if it’s a child who doesn’t like walking. The Mecure is reasonably priced and close to tram stops and the shops.

Co-op Live is about 2 miles out of the centre of Manchester. There will be a steady stream of people walking to and from the event so walking is safe. You can also get a tram to the venue and back again but be aware that after the event the queues for the tram can mean waiting up to 90 minutes to get on one. They will keep running trams until everyone gets back but it can be a very long wait. You can try to get a taxi but there may be a similar wait as there will be 20,000 people all trying to get home at the same time.

I don't know of any hotels near the arena but there are loads of options in central Manchester. Every major hotel chain is there. Which one you want really depends on your budget.

For high street shops the Arndale centre is probably the place to go. It's less than 5 minutes walk from Picadilly Gardens. For more interesting shops, wander around the Northern Quarter. It is filled with all sorts of independent shops.
