Acute Bright's Disease, Uraemia.

Bright's disease is an old term for kidney failure but they would have been able to identify oedema, high blood pressure, protein in urine and put this together as 'kidney disease'.

Uraemia - a syndrome caused by kidney failure.

I've been looking at the 1926 Irish Census. My granddad was only a few months old when she died.

Acute Bright’s Disease, Uraemia (I don’t think that’s an a-n at the start) and certified.

I thought uraemia.

Was it called dropsy too?

Acute Bright's disease. Uraemia. Certified.
Both things are related to kidney disease/failure.

Uraemia is not the same as dropsy.
Uraemia refers to urea (and creatinine) in the bloodstream, which is caused by kidney failure.

Dropsy is an archaic term for oedema (swelling).
