Question for those who have done those foot peel things

I've done it once before and it worked well but I can't remember how long it took. I thought I had 3 weeks before my holiday and I've just soaked my feet in one of those foot peel things (the one where you put your feet in the bag and some time later the dry skin comes off). However, I've just realised I've miscounted and it's actually 2 weeks!

Now a bit worried I'm going to be walking around in sandals with hideous peeling feet. Is there anything I can do to speed it up? If all else fails is there anything I can do to fix them before I go away?

Soak your feet daily, it will speed up the shedding. And use an exfoliate to encourage the skin to slough away.

Just keep exfoliating your heels and lots of moisturiser

When I did it it peeled about 3 days later and carried on peeling for a few days. I think you’ve got plenty of time before your holiday and that will be fine. Bon Voyage!

Soak your feet but don’t use moisturiser as it will stop the peel working, you need to soak in hot water but you need them dry to get them to flake.

This.

I did similar OP…thought it would take 3-5 days as it said on the box. I was so wrong 🤦‍♀️😂 I actually thought I must have done something wrong, because 10 days later nothing had happened!

Two days later…I looked like a reptile shedding its skin all over…honestly! Just in time for my Mediterranean cruise!’ 😬

Noooo don’t do that. The whole point is for the hard skin to peel off. It won’t go anywhere if you moisturise. Also - your skin will be sensitive so exfoliating is the last thing you should do.
To speed things up sit with your feet in water at every opportunity. 2 weeks should be fine if you do this. Wear socks (even in bed) or you’ll be leaving a trail of skin flakes wherever you go.
Moisturise after the peel process has finished but not before and don’t let the soles of your feet burn in the sun. You will have lost layers of skin so use a high factor lotion on them.

On holiday if you shed, just rub them with a towel or dry flannel before you go out in the morning and again after the shower in the evening
Not the end of the world

Just to reiterate do NOT do this.

soak in warm water for half an hour no exfoliating no moisturiser.

by day 5 you’ll be good 😊

The one I get from sainsburys is 7 days. It says not to soak but I normally do and scrub the skin off.
The first one i did was so good. But yes it was like a snake losing its skin!

Chatot · 23/04/2026 18:16

Thank you all. The one I have says to soak daily so I'll make sure to do that every day and hope that I'm not too reptilian two weeks from now!
