Given the verdict of this high profile trial do we have to question the C PS on brining this to court of there was a reasonable chance of a not guilty verdict and obvious areas where the defence could exploit?

it seems to me that the result is some bad messaging to women about the use of such laws as 'she is mentally ill and making it up' defence held. Either there is injustice here or the CPS overestimated their chance of success.

Christopher Trybus is walking outside a court in a grey suit with a white shirt. He has glasses and short black hair.

I really fear this has set down a lot book for defence barristers; kinky sex, mental health issues, attnetion seeking etc. Maybe the barrister was of the more expensive kind given the accused's profession?

Maybe we need a review into this case as it seems to undermine a lot of work out into protect women against domestic violence.

The jury deliberated for 40 hours which suggests it wasn't a simple decision for them. CPS can't know for sure before any case which way it will go. If they did we wouldn't need juries.

We complain that abuse is under reported, under prosecuted, and trials have bad outcomes because of the burden of proof Vs the likelihood of objective evidence. It stands to reason that if that's going to change, the CPS will have to make decisions to take borderline cases to court.

The accusations were horrific if true, so it had to be tested. The dates being wrong in a DA case can be misrembered dates rather than 'didn't happen'.

This man has been through a lot but he has now had his not guilty verdict. That's got to be better than having police suspicion and rumours.

It's important these cases are tried, there was another recently that resulted in a conviction
