Agenda for Change ‘graduate’ reform - are Band 5 salaries going up? 📈

I’ve read that - separately to the wider reforms going on in the nursing profession - the Agenda for Change pay structure reforms will “prioritise increasing graduate pay.”

Is this code for: the Band 5 pay of allied healthcare professionals such as physios, OTs and SaLTs will be increasing?

If so, surely there will be compression between Band 5 and 6 roles? Does anyone have any further insight into what’s happening?

Given that nurses who make up the majority of AHP’s are graduates, I struggle to see how they are going to be able to structure this unless nursing is completely removed. In which case, how is it going to be beneficial for any AHP, as AFC is outdated for all now.
As a nurse, I struggle to see how they can increase B5 pay unless they up all the bands. The B6’s will just refuse to do the extra work with the extra responsibility if they are being paid the same as the 5’s.
personally, I believe that the higher bands, 8b, 8c etc should not be paid as much. For a lot of them the workload is lower, they don’t work late, they have better work life balance as office hours. The ones I have worked with, not sure why they are earning so much!

Refer to your pay negotiating body. According to your sector. Keep up with trade union news and bulletins.

I don’t see how they’re going to improve Band 5 without improving all the ones above that, either. The gap between the top of Band 5 and the bottom of Band 6 is already tiny, less than £1,000.
