Which banks offer accounts for new village clubs and societies?

We are starting a new organisation in out village. The local Building Society will not open an account for us or any other clubs/societies.
Is anyone able to suggest a bank that will take us on? We wish to apply for grants so really need a bank. Then we shall be buying equipment and paying rent.

Most Girlguiding units in my area use Lloyds.

Thank you for the suggestions @IsThisNameTaken and @OwlOfBrown ,
I will try the CAF as we have a Post Office in the village and Lloyds is 40 mins away by bus and walking.

Natwest offer free accounts software which I have found very useful as a club treasurer. Lloyds have started charging for their community bank accounts unless you are a charity. Most banks allow you to open remotely and pay in cash and cheques via the Post Office. I have never had any problems with CAF, and would steer well clear of Barclays for any community accounts after some bad experiences.

My rainbow and brownie units use Lloyd's. Yes they charge now, but the amount is very minimal unless you have large amounts going through the account, so it may depend on what size of grant you are applying for. The main benefit was we could open it entirely online and all our parents use online banking to pay now. So we havent had to go into the branch at all (luckily as our nearest one closed down).

It was Natwest that our school PTA moved to as you can do online banking with them whereas RBS didn't offer it (even though they are part of the same banking group)

@FinnJuhl Unfortunately Lloyds are charging charities for the community accounts as well. We just had to move our PTA (which is a registered charity) onto NatWest because on top of the monthly fee, they were charging us a percentage for cash deposits and withdrawals (which as you can imagine, we get a lot of, being a PTA!).
