Have always been cruelty free, cosmetics and household products. Hate that animal testing still exists.

I have been so unaware and shocked. For anyone already on this journey or wanting to learning more, look up Ridglan farms US and MBR acres UK

For almost a decade now. I dont get why anybody would buy the alternative.
I mean the alternative to cruelty free is with 'added cruelty!'...who wants their shampoo with added animal torture!!?

The issue for me isn’t the obvious things though. I feel so niave. Once you start looking at everything - hair dye/ nail varnish/ toothpaste any medications we use. Our new pet medication we’ve just been offered for our dog. I look that up it was tested on 500 Beagles.
I guess I’m trying to start a thread to understand it all better.
Most of my cleaning products and cosmetics I changed years ago mainly because of the obvious. But I thought animal testing was in the past :(

I did this two years ago, it was actually difficult and I didn’t appreciate how many lotions, potions, first aid and cosmetic things we use as a family.

There are two products I’ve tried to find suitable replacements for and have failed, my face wash and a shampoo for psoriasis. My daughter also refuses to give up her shampoo.

I always remind my children about choosing cruelty free options and try to remind them that we need to think about what we are buying/how far it’s travelled etc but I haven’t found the change straightforward.

Yes I try not to use animal
products in all parts of my life as far as possible.

As you say it can be tricky to start with but I find rather than trying to overhaul everything at once, just try to but cruelty free each time you re-buy.

When we’re talking about cruelty free I think it’s important to remember that our diet is probably where we can have the greatest impact. If you don’t feel you can go veggie/vegan then organic meat and diary is higher welfare.

Yes that’s a good point re over haul. I’ve always looked at provenance and welfare/ local butchers etc. and grateful to be able to buy organic farm produce/ boxes.
For the ‘cruelty’ aspect though and recent whistleblower footage that’s what’s affected me most and sent me down a rabbit hole….
